Information you choose to enter

You may enter searches, select moods and providers, rate titles, save picks, or enter a display name when creating a share link. Search and discovery selections are sent to WatchWink’s site endpoints to return results, and optional accounts store a username, password hash and synced personal data in private server storage outside the public website. Passwords are hashed rather than stored as readable text. Accounts collect an email address for verification and password recovery. Transactional messages are sent through our website hosting mail service. Verification links expire after 30 minutes and password-reset links after 15 minutes; both are single use, and only token hashes are stored in account records. Email addresses and pending verification records are removed with account deletion, subject to hosting backup retention.

Third-party services

• TMDB supplies title, person, image, rating, trailer-reference, recommendation, and availability data.
• JustWatch supplies streaming availability through TMDB’s provider data.
• YouTube receives a request when trailer thumbnails or the embedded player load. YouTube may process device, network, and usage information under its own privacy terms.
• Google Fonts may receive basic network request information when fonts load.
• Our hosting provider may keep ordinary security and access logs such as IP address, browser information, requested URL, and timestamp.

Cookies and tracking

WatchWink does not currently use advertising cookies, analytics pixels, or cross-site behavioral tracking. Browser storage is used for app preferences, saved items, ratings, PWA updates, and offline functionality. Signed-in accounts use a secure HttpOnly SameSite session cookie lasting up to seven days. Security rate-limit records use hashed IP/account identifiers. Hosting access logs may contain IP addresses.

Sharing

A share link contains the title information and sender name needed to display the shared page. Private notes, watch status, collections, and pins are excluded from share links and shared text. They remain local in guest mode and are sent to the private account API when signed in. Saved-pick and note searches are also local. Anyone who receives that link can view the information encoded in it, so only share it with people you intend to reach.

Backups

My picks lets you export a file containing your saved picks, private notes, history, and preferences. Keep this file private. Importing a backup merges it into the active local profile. When signed in, imported data will sync to that account. Importing original guest data into an account requires an explicit action; conflicts require a choice.

Account controls and retention

Account offers export, sign out and password-confirmed deletion. Deletion removes the active server record and its previous snapshot. Other offline devices may keep copies until cleared, and hosting backups follow the host’s retention policy. Account data remains until deleted; exports and original guest data must be cleared separately. Signing out clears this account’s cache on the current browser after pending changes are synced. Do not use offline account caches on a shared device unless you trust other device users.

Control and deletion

You can remove individual saved picks, clear saved picks and Taste history inside the app, or erase all WatchWink data by clearing site data for watchwink.com in your browser settings. Uninstalling the PWA may not remove browser storage in every browser; clear the site data as well if you want a complete local reset.

Children and changes

WatchWink is a general-audience entertainment discovery tool and is not intended to collect personal information from children. If the service later changes account, analytics, sync, or other data practices, this notice will be updated before those features are relied upon.

WW Score and shared reviews

Synced account ratings contribute to WW Score, an aggregate average and rating count for each title. Guest ratings contribute only after account import and sync. Written reviews and your username become visible to anyone with the review link only when you choose Publish review & score. Saved notes are not included. Stop sharing revokes the link; clearing a rating removes it from WW Score. Recipients may retain their own copies.
